We build Commonground for the disability community, and this is how Commonground was built!

Hi, I’m Megan Mindy, founder of Commonground.

My heart for this work began back in middle school and high school adaptive PE, where I saw firsthand how sports and movement build deep, unconditional connection. But even as I fell in love with these programs, one question stayed with me: Why do athletic and recreational spaces for individuals with disabilities always have to be separate?

That question became my life’s mission. At the very core of Commonground is a dedication to adaptive sports and inclusive athletics. Through coaching, sports curriculum building, and active movement, I've watched lives transform whenever we replace limitations with high expectations and true belonging—on and off the field.

When the organization I moved to Colorado for unexpectedly closed overnight, I faced a choice: panic or pivot. Driven by pure passion and belief in this community, I chose to pivot. I walked into the local school district the very next day, offered Commonground to fill the gap, and never looked back.

Today, Commonground is my dream realized. Whether we are coaching athletes, training teams, or supporting daily life transitions, every single day I get to walk alongside incredible individuals in the Roaring Fork Valley—building confidence, sharing joy, and proving that we all thrive when we find common ground. Thank you for being here and believing in this mission.
